How to Prepare for Your Dog or Equestrian Photoshoot.
We want your photoshoot experience to be as enjoyable and stress free as possible, so here are some tips to help you and your furry or equine companion prepare for a fantastic session!
For Dog Photoshoots:
Exercise Before the Shoot: A good walk or play session before the shoot will help your dog burn off excess energy and be more relaxed during the photoshoot.
Bring Favourite Treats & Toys: These will be helpful for getting your dog's attention and rewarding them for being a star! Familiar items will also help them feel more comfortable.
Grooming: A clean, brushed dog looks great on camera! Be sure to give them a bath and brush their coat before the shoot, especially if they're due for a trim.
Bring Water: Keep your dog hydrated, especially if the shoot is outdoors.
For Equestrian Photoshoots:
Grooming & Tacking Up: A tidy horse looks its best! Make sure your horse is clean, well-groomed, and properly tacked up. Pay attention to details like the mane, tail, and hooves, which can make a big difference in photos.
Check Equipment: Ensure your saddle, bridle, and any accessories are clean and in good condition.
Bring Extra Supplies: Pack extra grooming supplies, like brushes, hoof picks, and fly sprays, as well as any treats your horse enjoys. Also, bring along a cooler or water buckets to keep your horse hydrated during the shoot.
Outfit & Attire: Consider coordinating your clothing with your horse's tack, especially if you're doing a formal portrait session. Think about neutral tones or colours that complement your horse's coat.
Relax & Have Fun: Horses are sensitive to the energy of their handlers, if you stay calm and relaxed during the shoot, the more at ease your horse will be.
General Tips:
Bring A Friend:
If possible, bring a friend or assistant to help manage your dog or horse during the shoot. This can help make things run more smoothly and ensure your companion is happy and comfortable.
Weather Conditions:
If you're having an outdoor shoot. Keep an eye on the weather. We can always reschedule if conditions are not ideal for your pet or horse's well-being.
